One of the main attractions of the Stubaital valley is its proximity to Innsbruck, just 15 minutes drive away. The five typical Tirolean villages of Schnberg, Mieders, Telfes Fulpmes and Neustift nestle in romantic Alpine scenery. Although there are excellent modern ski facilities and high quality instruction, the valley retains its traditional character. The ski-bus provides a connection to the three skiing areas in the valley: the Stubai Glacier (year round skiing area), Schlick 2000, both with special snowboarding areas, and the Elfer lifts.

Stubaital in summer
the Stubai Glacier is one of the most extensive summer ski areas in Europe. Twin gondolas take you up to the network of lifts. But the slopes can become very crowded, especially during German bank holidays. The glacier does close for about a month in summer. In summer the valley is a haven for hikers and mountain bikers. To avoid beginning with a steep climb, bikes can be taken onto the lifts free of charge. Bikes can be hired locally. The valley is also a popular base for motor bike tours.
Neustift is a gentle ski area on wooded, north-facing slopes and is the main base for the Stubai Glacier, a 20-minute drive away at the end of the valley. Schlick 2000s skiing in Fulpmes is in a sheltered bowl on the 2,230-m Sennjoch. Shlick 2000 is great for beginners and kids, and there's a Mickey Mouse club at the glacier. There's a huge choice of pistes at the glacier. The Stubai Superskipass also covers a small area at Milders and assorted lifts in the valley. Throughout the resorts there are also toboggan runs, cross-country skiing routes and walking paths. There is an ice-skating rink at the Elfer Lifts station, or for the more adventurous, ice climbing is also a popular activity in the valley.
Number of lifts: 25: 5 gondolas, 11 chairlifts, 9 draglifts.
Access: Fulpmes-Neustift is extremely easy to reach from Innsbruck, only 20km (12 miles) to the north) via Route 183. There is a rail station in the resort and also good bus connections to the city and airport.
