The Val d'Illiez stretches from Montey in the lower Valais passing through Troistorrent and Val d'Illiez to the town of Champery. This traditional Swiss village is linked into the Portes du Soleil ski area. The one-way main street is lined with attractive wooden chalets, hotels, shops and restaurants. A 125-person cable-car takes you up to the mid-mountain station at Planachaux.
Champery is a great resort and very family friendly, although the nursery slopes can be a little steep for total beginners. The mountain close to Champery offers around 100 km of pistes, but the easy links to the Portes du Soleil mean there's plenty of great skiing for all levels.
