Hotels Apartments Chalets in Cervinia |
Access: Cervinia is located at the head of its own valley,
off the Aosta Valley, and is 140km (87 miles) from Turin airport, and is accessed
from the Aosta - Turin motorway.. Drivers
from the North and West should enter Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel from Chamonix
in France. The Gran San Bernardo tunnel from Switzerland brings drivers to the motorway
at Aosta. From Aosta it is about 12 miles to Chtillon where you exit the A5 and
head up the final 19 miles to Cervinia via Valtournenche. Chains should be carried
in case of snowfall. Drivers from the south will arrive on the same motorway, the
A5, from Turin or Milan, heading in the opposite direction.
There are five free and one chargeable car parks in the resort but cars tend to
park anywhere, including in the pedestrian zones at weekends, which have only temporary
barriers to stop them. The nearest rail station is at Chatillon, 27km (17 miles)
away, from where there is a bus connection.
The Matterhorn is world famous for climbing. There are also a number of normal rambling possibilities in Valtournenche. Summer ski area on the plateau Rosa with 9 ski-runs.
