The Gasteinertal is a good choice for everybody, plenty to do whatever your preference. Historical, family friendly spa  resort, 80 km south of Salzburg. Locally: bar, disco, casino, concerts. Chemist, doctor. Indoor pool. Access:, railway station in the resort. Alpine and rocks thermae. Sightseeing: Alpine museum, birds park, mines museum in Bockstein, the church of St Niklaus.

The nearest international airport to the resort is Salzburg, 90km (55 miles) away by the A10 motorway, exit at Bishofshofen if visiting from the north, or at Mallnitz, Villach if arriving from the south.  Travel to the resort from the larger international airport of Munich is via the same route from the north.  Access is rarely a problem due to the resort's location and major access roads.   There is a rail station in Bad Gastein.
