Search Eurocamp for great deals on camping in Brittany
Brittany boasts the highest number of campsites of any region in France, and of course the highest number of people taking camping holidays. No matter what your preference in holiday entertainment or activities, a camping holiday in Brittany is sure to provide what you are looking for.
The region is best known for its coastline, which is always spectacular. The granite cliffs of the North and far West coasts are interspersed with delightful sandy coves with abundant rock pools and great coastal walks. The extreme Western district of Finistere is wild and open with grand views and less populous.
The South coast is softer, with golden sandy beaches offering safe swimming, cut by many tidal estuaries up which you can explore by foot or kayak. Everywhere there are small coastal towns and villages, offering cafs, bars and plenty of shops. The beauty of these villages nestling amongst the greenery has attracted many artists, and a visit to view the art on show in the pretty village of Pont Aven is well worth the trip.
But it's not just the coast which makes Brittany so special. The central hills are deeply cut by steep river valleys and are great places to spend some time deep in thought on the banks of a rushing stream. Brittany's Celtic past is everywhere, with great menhirs and stone circles scattered throughout the land. The most famous is the enormous stone circle at Carnac.
Brittany has a few larger towns, notably Quimper with its historic cathedral and old town, Vannes on the south coast with an excellent aquarium, the walled citadel of St Malo, and the capital, Rennes, a lively university city.
