Visa information for Belgium, France, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Potugal, Spain, Austria, Norway and Switzerland. Do you need a visa to travel to the Schengen Group of countries if you are a UK resident?
If you hold a UK passport you will not normally require a visa to visit any of our European holiday destinations. The countries of the European Union, plus the others in the list below, are all members of the Schengen group of countries. Visas are not normally required for travel to these countries.
The situation in the event of Brexit is unclear, but it is likely that an agreement will be reached to allow UK passport holders to continue to travel to Schengen group countries. In case you are in any doubt, we provide links to the various websites maintained by European governments which detail visa rules and regulations. Because the Drive-Alive website serves motorists taking self-drive holidays in Europe we do not provide information on visa requirements for countries outside Europe.
