In just four hours, DFDS Ferries takes you from Newhaven, the
UK ferry port closest to London, to Dieppe, ideally situated in Upper Normandy
with fast connections to Paris and all parts of Northern France. Newhaven is easy to reach, just 34 miles from the M25. Just take the M25 around the south of London and join the M23 at exit 7. Then follow the M23/A23 until you reach the Brighton and Hove bypass where you join the A27 towards Lewes then the A26 into Newhaven, where the ferry port is clearly signed. |
Dieppe is a great place to start your journey in France, just a 2 hour journey to the Paris
inner ring road, the Périphérique. The road from Dieppe towards Rouen is clearly marked, from
where you take the A13 to Paris.
Those heading south towards the Dordogne
and Bordeaux take the A13 for a short distance towards Caen before joining the new
A28 which gives unbroken motorway or dual carriageway all the way to Spain and onwards
to Santander.
Or if you're heading for Brittany, 28 miles after leaving Dieppe
you take the A29 for Caen.
Dieppe is well worth a stopover, with its good shops, excellent restaurants and fine beach,
all overlooked by a magnificent Chateau.
